Application fee

600元 (CNY 600 registration/application fee) CFAU publishes the charge identically in all five 2026 degree notices, under '五、费用标准', as '(一)报名注册费:600元' — a registration/application fee of CNY 600. The wording on refundability is explicit and uniform: '报名费一律不退' (the fee is never refunded). Payment mechanics are also stated: '现场报名时交纳;如不是现场报名,而是邮寄报名材料,请勿同时邮寄报名费,报名费在参加入学考试时补交。' (pay on the spot if applying in person; if posting materials, do not send the fee with them, because it is collected at the entrance examination). The CFAU Chinese Government Scholarship page repeats the figure for the High-Level Postgraduate route — '提交申请后,需支付600元人民币申请费,请发送邮件至admission@cfau.edu.cn获取账户信息...申请费一经汇出不予退还。' (after submitting the application a CNY 600 application fee is payable; email admission@cfau.edu.cn for account details; the fee is non-refundable once remitted). TUITION IS NOT THE APPLICATION FEE and must not be recorded as one: the same notices quote tuition per year — CNY 24,000/year undergraduate, CNY 25,000/year Chinese-taught master's, CNY 30,000/year English-taught International Relations master's, CNY 32,000/year doctoral and CNY 34,000/year English-taught doctoral — and those are annual tuition charges. Insurance is CNY 800/year, payable with tuition, and the CFAU notice adds for the English-taught master's and both doctoral programmes that '保险费一律不退' (the insurance fee is never refunded). Accommodation is charged by the day, not as an application fee: CNY 80/person/day for a triple room at the Zhanlanlu campus International Exchange Centre and CNY 80/person/day for a single room (14 m²) in the Shahe campus student apartments.

Application timing and source scope

2026/2027 intake (September 2026 entry), re-checked on 15 September 2026: the recorded window is accurate and closed, and no 2027/2028 notice exists. The recorded source https://iss.cfau.edu.cn/col4183/col4187/19ca2dd7fdbb4f38aac785ae04cdf396.htm was re-fetched today with HTTP 200 and is the 2026年本科生项目 notice, uploaded 2026-03-09, which states verbatim '(二)申请时间:1月1日—5月1日。' The other three 2026 degree notices on the same board — 2026年中文授课硕士研究生项目 (d46adb82e89e4af8b0b9520b1e78da1f), 2026年英文授课国际关系硕士研究生项目 (fb918fa0f3574e9bb6e6adfd60db0575), 2026年博士研究生项目 (c87a6058c96a430bb9b52c0f2995724e) and 2026年英文授课博士研究生项目 (5548906ab9d94414acb4180e4095a27a) — were all fetched today with HTTP 200 and all carry the identical line '(二)申请时间:1月1日—5月1日。', every one uploaded 2026-03-09. That window closed on 1 May 2026 for every level and every language of instruction. Undergraduate applicants also had to submit a CSCA (China Scholastic Competency Assessment) result by 1 May ('考试成绩提交截止日期为5月1日(同报名截止时间)'), and the entrance examination (online interview in Chinese and the applicant's subject) is held in late May or early June each year. Chinese Government Scholarship through CFAU runs on a separate, earlier track: the CFAU scholarship page (https://iss.cfau.edu.cn/col4185/col4274/9cabfdbd76e74c4fa60b06c948b9502f.htm, uploaded 2025-12-04, HTTP 200 today) covers the 高水平研究生 High-Level Postgraduate Program and instructs applicants to apply through the CFAU International Students' Office site and then '请于二月二十二号前完成申请。逾期申请将不予处理。' (complete the application before 22 February; late applications will not be processed), with the CSC online application (studyinchina.csc.edu.cn) submitted as project category B under agency code 10040. That closed on 22 February 2026. Category A (bilateral) applicants apply to the Chinese embassy in their own country rather than to CFAU, and CFAU will issue a pre-admission letter on request for that purpose. NO 2027/2028 NOTICE: the degree-programme board at https://iss.cfau.edu.cn/col4183/col4187/index.htm (HTTP 200 today) lists as its newest entries the five 2026 programmes uploaded 2026-03-09, above the undated earlier versions of the same programmes; nothing for the 2027 intake has been published. The CFAU news board's newest item is dated 2026-09-11 and the newest teaching notice is the 2026-2027 academic calendar item set.

    Read official admission instructions

    Prepare your documents

Use the checklist below, then compare it with your program's required documents. Prepare any signed forms, translations and referee submissions before starting the final application.

  3. 3

    Complete the university application

Use the official application link and complete the fields required for your route. Submit documents only through the channel and at the stage stated in the current notice. Pay a charge only when instructed; retain any submission confirmation the system provides.

  4. 4

    Review your offer and costs

Document checklist and upload instructions

Use the document list for your exact program. Prepare these common items, then add any scholarship-specific forms:

  • Identity: passport information page and photograph. Copy your name, birth date and passport number exactly into each application.
  • Education: diploma or official expected-graduation certificate, transcripts and any required degree authentication. Include the original language and certified translations where requested.
  • Language: the required HSK, IELTS, TOEFL or accepted alternative. A medium-of-instruction letter replaces a test only if the program allows it.
  • Academic materials: study plan or research proposal; graduate recommendation letters; supervisor or pre-admission letter when required. Some systems send referees a private submission link.
  • Additional requirements: CSCA results for applicable undergraduate routes; portfolio for relevant arts programs; medical form, police clearance, financial guarantee or guardian documents when listed. Check validity periods before arranging time-sensitive documents.

Scan each complete document clearly. Use the file type and size limit shown beside its upload field; combine multi-page documents only where the system permits. Open every uploaded file to check legibility, page order, signatures and stamps. Keep a copy of everything you submit.

Application templates
How to fill the university application

Follow the submission method in your programme's notice. The steps below apply when it requires an online form; email and paper applications follow their separate source-linked instructions above.

  1. Open the university link for your degree level. On an admissions website, find the international-student application entry, then register or sign in. Button names vary between systems.
  2. Choose the correct entry year, degree, teaching language and program. Read its requirements before selecting your funding option.
  3. Enter personal information as it appears in your passport. List education and employment dates accurately, and enter a reliable email address.
  4. Complete the study plan and referee fields. Upload each document to its matching slot; enter a CSC application number only if your route asks for one.
  5. Preview the whole application. Follow the fee instructions, submit the form and check that the system acknowledges submission. Saving a draft does not submit it.
How to fill the CSC application
  1. Open the CSC portal below and register or sign in. Complete your personal details before starting the scholarship application.
  2. Select the application category specified in the current scholarship call. Type A commonly uses a dispatching authority and Type B a university; confirm the exact category and agency number in that route's current notice and check the receiving institution displayed by the system.
  3. Select the degree category, teaching language, major and study period specified by the eligible program. Keep these consistent with your university application.
  4. Upload the requested documents, review all fields and submit. Download the completed application form; sign and upload it to the university or dispatching-authority system when instructed.
  5. Save your application number and a copy of the submitted form. If you withdraw to edit, submit again before the deadline and tell the receiving office if it already began reviewing your application.

University agency number on record: 10040. For Type B, match it to China Foreign Affairs University in CSC. Type A uses your dispatching authority's number instead.
