Entry requirements
Language: 2026 Chinese-taught admissions brochure: applicants for Chinese-taught bachelor's programmes must hold HSK Level 4 or above; applicants for Chinese-taught master's or doctoral programmes must hold HSK Level 5 or above; applicants for English-taught programmes must have appropriate language proficiency. 2026 English-taught brochure: applicants from countries where English is not the native or official language must meet one of IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 80, TOEFL Essentials 9 (DI Code C806), or proof of at least two years of English-taught study, or pass a university English interview. The 2026 CSC High Level Postgraduate Program notice sets a lower bar for that programme — TOEFL 80 or IELTS 6.0, or pass the school's English assessment — and HSK Level 4 for Chinese-taught master's/doctoral applicants. Age: 2026 Chinese-taught brochure: bachelor's applicants no older than 25 (self-funded no older than 30); master's applicants no older than 35; doctoral applicants no older than 40. The 2026 English-taught brochure says master’s under 35 and doctoral under 40. In the bilingual CSC High-Level notice, Chinese says no older than 35/40 (不超过), while English says under 35/40; confirm the boundary with CUMTB. English wording alone does not resolve this translation conflict. Required degree: Bachelor's applicants must hold a high-school qualification; master's applicants a qualification equivalent to a Chinese bachelor's degree; doctoral applicants a qualification equivalent to a Chinese master's degree. Bachelor’s applicants must sit CSCA. The 2026 subject table requires the listed science/humanities Chinese paper and mathematics; most engineering/science rows also require physics, while mineral processing, chemical engineering and process, environmental engineering, and carbon storage science and engineering rows require chemistry. The English and administrative-management rows list humanities Chinese and mathematics only; follow the selected major’s row. Two recommendation letters are required. Financial guarantee: The admissions brochures list 'Financial Guarantee Letter and Bank Statement' (经济担保人担保函及银行存款证明) among required application documents but state no amount

Application timing and source scope

CUMTB’s 2026 High-Level Postgraduate notice, published November 7, 2025, required CSC submission by February 28, 2026 for September 2026 master’s and doctoral entry; that deadline is past. The recorded Type A route has no university-specific date. The reviewed 2026 Chinese-taught brochure, English-taught graduate brochure and October 30, 2025 general flowchart do not state a dated self-funded application window. They direct general applicants to the International Students Office; self-funded students may inquire about Beijing Government and university scholarships after admission and registration. The October 3, 2026 review of the official admissions index and its linked notices did not establish a 2027/2028 incoming call. This is a bounded source review, not proof that no such notice exists anywhere.

Recorded CSC agency number; confirm it in the current CSC call: 11413

Document checklist and upload instructions

Use the document list for your exact program. Prepare these common items, then add any scholarship-specific forms:

  • Identity: passport information page and photograph. Copy your name, birth date and passport number exactly into each application.
  • Education: diploma or official expected-graduation certificate, transcripts and any required degree authentication. Include the original language and certified translations where requested.
  • Language: the required HSK, IELTS, TOEFL or accepted alternative. A medium-of-instruction letter replaces a test only if the program allows it.
  • Academic materials: study plan or research proposal; graduate recommendation letters; supervisor or pre-admission letter when required. Some systems send referees a private submission link.
  • Additional requirements: CSCA results for applicable undergraduate routes; portfolio for relevant arts programs; medical form, police clearance, financial guarantee or guardian documents when listed. Check validity periods before arranging time-sensitive documents.

Scan each complete document clearly. Use the file type and size limit shown beside its upload field; combine multi-page documents only where the system permits. Open every uploaded file to check legibility, page order, signatures and stamps. Keep a copy of everything you submit.
