Application timing and source scope

Nanjing University's Institute for International Students republished its self-funded application guides on 14 and 16 September 2026, and they were reopened on 1 October 2026. They publish the next intake's application rule: 1 March to 15 May for undergraduate applicants and 1 March to 20 May for master's and doctoral applicants, for autumn 2027 entry, with the body text referring explicitly to 2027 — a passport valid no earlier than 1 March 2028, a nationality-residence window running to 30 April 2027, and a CSCA score submission deadline of 15 May. The window has not opened and no page states that applications are open, so the dates are recorded as the published rule rather than as an active window. The guides cover self-funded study only and direct scholarship applicants to the separate scholarship pages. The published application fee is CNY 500 for non-degree, undergraduate and short-term applicants and CNY 600 for advanced, graduate and visiting scholars, payable once and non-refundable. Tuition is published per academic year, from CNY 21,000 for undergraduate humanities to CNY 54,000 for doctoral medicine, and English-taught or featured programme tuition is not published centrally. Accommodation is CNY 3,000 per semester per bed at Xianlin and CNY 52 per day per bed for a double room or CNY 67 per day for a single room at Gulou, with a CNY 600 deposit. Medical insurance is CNY 800 per person per year or CNY 400 per half year and is required for registration. From the 2026/2027 academic year all international undergraduate applicants must submit a CSCA score report. Nanjing University's CSC institution code for Type B is 10284 and the Type A Excellence Programme code is 1563, both printed on the university's own notices. The university's 2027 Chinese Government Scholarship (Type B) High-Level Postgraduate Program notice was available when reopened on 2 October 2026. It sets the university-portal application window at 1 November 2026 to 20 January 2027. Preliminary feedback is due within three working days; department review is planned for late February, with pre-admission results expected in early March. Applicants with a pre-admission notice must submit the separate CSC Type B application by 17 March 2027 using agency number 10284. The scholarship is for full-time master's and doctoral study beginning in September 2027. Separately, the 2026 International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship rules include March 2027 five-month semester study. Applications run March 1–October 31, 2026 in both chinese.cn and NJU’s international-student system; pay CNY 500 after initial review. HSK 3 of at least 180 and HSKK results are required. This non-degree award has its own procedure.

Document checklist and upload instructions

Use the document list for your exact program. Prepare these common items, then add any scholarship-specific forms:

  • Identity: passport information page and photograph. Copy your name, birth date and passport number exactly into each application.
  • Education: diploma or official expected-graduation certificate, transcripts and any required degree authentication. Include the original language and certified translations where requested.
  • Language: the required HSK, IELTS, TOEFL or accepted alternative. A medium-of-instruction letter replaces a test only if the program allows it.
  • Academic materials: study plan or research proposal; graduate recommendation letters; supervisor or pre-admission letter when required. Some systems send referees a private submission link.
  • Additional requirements: CSCA results for applicable undergraduate routes; portfolio for relevant arts programs; medical form, police clearance, financial guarantee or guardian documents when listed. Check validity periods before arranging time-sensitive documents.

Scan each complete document clearly. Use the file type and size limit shown beside its upload field; combine multi-page documents only where the system permits. Open every uploaded file to check legibility, page order, signatures and stamps. Keep a copy of everything you submit.

Application templates
How to fill the university application

Follow the submission method in your programme's notice. The steps below apply when it requires an online form; email and paper applications follow their separate source-linked instructions above.

  1. Open the university link for your degree level. On an admissions website, find the international-student application entry, then register or sign in. Button names vary between systems.
  2. Choose the correct entry year, degree, teaching language and program. Read its requirements before selecting your funding option.
  3. Enter personal information as it appears in your passport. List education and employment dates accurately, and enter a reliable email address.
  4. Complete the study plan and referee fields. Upload each document to its matching slot; enter a CSC application number only if your route asks for one.
  5. Preview the whole application. Follow the fee instructions, submit the form and check that the system acknowledges submission. Saving a draft does not submit it.
How to fill the CSC application
  1. Open the CSC portal below and register or sign in. Complete your personal details before starting the scholarship application.
  2. Select the application category specified in the current scholarship call. Type A commonly uses a dispatching authority and Type B a university; confirm the exact category and agency number in that route's current notice and check the receiving institution displayed by the system.
  3. Select the degree category, teaching language, major and study period specified by the eligible program. Keep these consistent with your university application.
  4. Upload the requested documents, review all fields and submit. Download the completed application form; sign and upload it to the university or dispatching-authority system when instructed.
  5. Save your application number and a copy of the submitted form. If you withdraw to edit, submit again before the deadline and tell the receiving office if it already began reviewing your application.

University agency number on record: 10284. For Type B, match it to Nanjing University in CSC. Type A uses your dispatching authority's number instead.
