- Graduate applications are made by registering on the China Scholarship Council site at studyinchina.csc.edu.cn, and applicants must first contact and secure a supervisor in their chosen field using a Chinese acceptance letter from that supervisor; the major chosen at application cannot be changed after enrolment and the scholarship period cannot be extended.

- Graduate applicants must submit an 800-word study and research plan, two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors, a notarised highest diploma and transcript, the Foreigner Physical Examination Form, a 5 to 10 minute self-introduction video in Chinese or English, and where applicable proof of employment and proof of renouncing Chinese nationality — three copies of everything.
