CSC Scholarship Result 2026: Timeline, Status Meanings, and What to Do Next
By CSC Path Editorial — checked against official CSC and university sources.
1.When do CSC results come out 2026?
CSC policy is that results are released by the end of July, but they roll out in batches, not all at once. Different countries, dispatching authorities, and universities receive results on different dates. Type B (university channel) results often arrive earlier than Type A (embassy channel), because universities communicate directly with applicants. A result arriving in mid-July for someone else's country while yours is silent means nothing about your outcome.
Rule of thumb: do not assume anything before August 1. If you have heard nothing by mid-August, contact your embassy (Type A) or the university's international student office (Type B) directly.
Key dates ahead: - Now–late July: 2026–27 results roll out in batches - Mid-August: escalate to embassy/university if still silent - September 2026: enrollment; 8 universities were still accepting Sept 2026 applicants as of our July 3 verification — see the universities directory - ~October 2026: CSC 2027–28 applications open — start preparing with the 7-step guide
2.What does Submitted status mean on the CSC portal?
The portal is not a live tracker. Universities and embassies know before the portal shows anything — their word is authoritative, not the status page. Here is what each status actually means:
- Submitted — your application entered the system. This status frequently *never changes*, even for applications that have already been decided. A frozen "Submitted" is not a rejection.
- In Progress / Under Review — being processed by CSC or awaiting university placement. Normal to sit here for weeks.
- Admitted — congratulations; the official Admission Notice and JW form follow.
- Rejected — final for that channel, but there are still options through the university or a reapplication.
It is also normal to receive an admission letter from your university with no scholarship line mentioned. Admission and funding are decided by different bodies: the university admits you; CSC funds you. Admission documents are often generated before the CSC decision lands and get updated afterward. An admission letter without a funding line while you're "waiting for CSC" is not a rejection.
3.What is the difference between JW201 and JW202?
China issues two visa application forms: JW201 for government-funded students and JW202 for self-funded students. If you can download a JW201 from the visa form system, that is a very strong sign your scholarship was approved — the form category itself encodes your funding status. A JW202 means self-funded admission.
Many applicants learn their result this way days before any official email, because the form appears in the system as soon as the funding decision is entered. If your university has issued you a JW201, treat it as confirmation and start preparing your X1 visa file.
4.What should I do if my CSC scholarship is rejected?
Rejection is final for that channel, but you still have real options — most applicants don't realise this.
- Ask the university about its own scholarships. Many applicants rejected by CSC are offered university-level or provincial scholarships instead — sometimes automatically, sometimes only if you ask within days.
- Reapply next cycle with your acceptance letter. The 2027–28 round opens around October 2026. An existing professor acceptance letter is the single biggest booster for a reapplication, and you already have the relationship.
- Target lower-competition universities. The same full stipend is available at strong universities with a fraction of the applicant pool — see our Hidden Gems directory.
- Consider the self-funded route. For some programs (especially MBBS), realistic tuition is lower than most people assume — see our honest self-funded comparison.
If instead you're admitted, your next 4 steps are: - Confirm and respond to the university by their deadline — some require an acceptance confirmation. - Check your physical exam validity — the Foreigner Physical Examination Form is valid for 6 months; if yours expires before September registration, redo it now. - Apply for the X1 visa with your Admission Notice and JW201. - Book housing/flights early — dorm allocation at popular universities is first-come.
