CSC vs GKS vs Türkiye Bursları vs Stipendium Hungaricum: An Honest Comparison
By CSC Path Editorial, checked against official CSC and university sources.
A source-first comparison of CSC, GKS, Türkiye Scholarships and Stipendium Hungaricum coverage, eligibility, timing and budget gaps.
1.Can I apply to CSC, GKS, Türkiye Scholarships and Stipendium Hungaricum in one cycle?
Check the current call for every scheme and your national route before assuming parallel applications are permitted. Application, nomination and award-holding rules are not identical.
A safe planning method is:
1. read each current call and sending-partner or embassy notice; 2. record its portal, route, deadline, institution-choice rules and document format; 3. mark documents that must use a scheme-specific template; 4. check whether an application, nomination, offer acceptance or award elsewhere creates a conflict; and 5. withdraw correctly if you accept an offer that cannot be held with another award.
Do not assume the documents are “80% shared,” every application is free, or one study plan can simply be adapted four times. A medical form, recommendation format, notarisation, sending-partner step or program preference may be scheme-specific.
Use the current dedicated guides for CSC, GKS, Türkiye Scholarships and Stipendium Hungaricum, then verify each fact on the linked official call.
2.Which scholarship has the strongest financial coverage?
There is no honest winner without matching degree level, city, housing and the current call. Compare the complete package, not a currency-converted stipend headline.
For each offer, record:
- tuition cap or waiver and any excluded fees;
- monthly or annual allowance and payment period;
- dormitory, housing contribution or no housing benefit;
- insurance scope and gaps;
- language-year funding;
- airfare, settlement and completion benefits;
- dependant coverage; and
- documented costs that remain yours.
Current official examples illustrate the differences:
- NIIED's 2026 GKS guidance uses bundled annual allowances that differ between the language year and degree period, plus stated tuition and airfare benefits. See the official Study in Korea notice.
- Türkiye Scholarships' official benefits page publishes the current tuition, stipend, accommodation, insurance, language-course and flight package.
- The 2026–2027 Stipendium Hungaricum call publishes the stipend and housing contribution and explicitly warns that they do not fully cover living costs, especially rent in larger cities.
- CSC benefits must be confirmed from the current route and host notice; the China cost guide explains why a stipend does not predict savings.
Convert currencies only with a dated rate, and keep the original currency beside every figure.
3.How should I compare airfare and arrival costs?
Read the current call's travel section and note the exact eligibility, journey, class, reimbursement or ticketing process. Do not reduce the answer to a permanent “two of four” list because terms can change by cycle and route.
For each scheme, verify:
- whether the program buys the ticket or reimburses it;
- eligible departure and return points;
- travel dates and booking approval;
- baggage and change fees;
- whether family travel is excluded;
- when any settlement allowance is paid; and
- which arrival costs must be paid before the first allowance.
Do not use a universal USD 400–900 one-way flight estimate. Get a live fare for your origin, intake date and baggage needs, then add only confirmed visa, insurance, room, deposit and local-transport charges.
4.Which scholarship is easiest to get?
No comparable dataset supports an “easiest” ranking across these four schemes. They use different applicant definitions, country or sending-partner routes, university reviews, quotas and degree levels.
Choose by eligibility and fit:
- Which current call accepts your nationality, age, degree and academic record?
- Does your intended subject and language exist at an eligible institution?
- Is a national nomination, embassy route or university track required?
- Can you meet the document, examination, interview and deadline rules?
- Can you afford the documented costs not covered by the award?
- Are you willing to complete any required language year?
Published application or award totals are useful only when they cover the same cycle and population. Do not convert them into a personal probability. CSC Path's eligibility assessment is a checklist, not a prediction, and the application service compares written requirements without promising selection.
