September 2026 Intake in China: What's Still Open in July

1.Can I still apply for September 2026 in July?

Yes, at a shrinking set of universities, mostly medical universities and colleges with rolling admission. Verified and reported deadlines as of mid-July 2026 (ALWAYS re-confirm on the university's own portal): Shanghai University of TCM July 15; Sino-British College USST July 31; Xuzhou Medical University July 31; Jinzhou Medical University Aug 30; Beijing Chinese Language and Culture College Aug 30 (China Admissions list, updated June 2026). Two cautions from our own verification: aggregator dates sometimes contradict official pages (one university listed "Aug 31" had officially closed May 30, per the official PDF), and universities can stop accepting applications early once seats fill.

2.Is the visa timeline actually feasible from a July admission?

The math, using official processing times: application decision ~2 weeks at fast universities (Dalian Medical: "less than 2 weeks", official FAQ); admission letter + JW202 issued ~5 working days to 4 weeks after fee payment (ZJUT: letter + electronic JW202 within 5 working days of fee receipt, official guide); X1 visa: ~4 working days at visa centers, and officials recommend applying at least one month before travel (Beijing municipal guidelines). So: apply mid-July, offer early August, documents mid to late August, visa ~1 week, arrive for early-September registration. Feasible where universities issue electronic JW202s; risky from mid-August onward. Some universities allow short registration deferrals (Dalian Medical officially allows 1 week).

3.What documents do I need ready NOW to move fast?

Passport (6+ months validity), notarized diploma + transcripts (with English translations), physical examination form if your stay exceeds 6 months (our guide), bank statement for proof of funds (universities and the visa require evidence; the X1 route asks for scholarship proof or ~US$2,500/year of funds at some embassies), and passport photos to spec. Having these scanned and ready is the difference between making and missing a July deadline.

4.What will it cost without a scholarship?

Self-funded means tuition (typically CNY 15,000-40,000/year depending on program/university; check each university's notice), accommodation, and living costs. Two softeners: university entrance/freshman scholarships (10-100% tuition waivers) are often applied for inside the admission application itself (ZJUT freshman scholarship, official), and you can apply for CSC 2027-28 or provincial scholarships from inside China for later years at some universities; ask the international office. 5.What if September is too tight? The March 2027 intake

The safer play if you're reading this in August: March 2027. Verified: Jiangsu University's spring intake closes December 25, 2026, registration March 3-4, 2027 (official dates); Dalian Medical University's spring window runs about September 1 to January 5 for pre-medical and MBBS (official FAQ). Spring intake is mostly select degree programs + language programs; full picture in our spring intake guide. Using autumn 2026 to also prepare a strong CSC 2027-28 application (opens ~October) gives you two parallel shots.

6.Step-by-step: the fastest safe path this month

1. Shortlist 2-3 still-open universities from the list above and confirm deadlines on their official portals today. 2. Email their international admission offices asking: is the September window open, is an electronic JW202 issued, what's the fee. 3. Prepare the document set in parallel. 4. Apply + pay the fee at your first choice. 5. The moment documents arrive, book the visa appointment. 6. If any step slips past late August, pivot to the March 2027 list without losing your documents work. If you were rejected by CSC, see 7 options you still have.
