CSC Scholarship at Nankai University: Application Guide

CSC agency number

Nankai University's CSC agency number is 10055, stated in its own notices as 受理单位：南开大学（学校代码：10055） and as 南开大学的受理机构编号为10055，本奖学金在CSC系统内的类型为B类. The university therefore participates in the Chinese Government Scholarship as a Type B institution.

Application deadline

The 2026 CSC High-Level Graduate Program (高水平研究生项目) application period was 20 October 2025 to 20 March 2026, applied for online through the Nankai international student service system and then through the CSC Study in China Management Information System at studyinchina.csc.edu.cn with Type B selected; the master's brochure separately states a CSC Type B deadline of 10 March 2026, and scholarship places are described as limited.

Tuition

The 2026 CSC Silk Road Program (丝绸之路项目) was open to bachelor's and master's applicants from Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, Pakistan, Mongolia, Indonesia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Colombia, with a deadline of 18 May 2026, and covered tuition and on-campus accommodation, a stipend of CNY 2,500 per month for undergraduates and CNY 3,000 per month for master's students, and comprehensive medical insurance.

Application deadline

CSC Type A (Country Bilateral Program) applicants at Nankai apply directly through the Chinese embassy or consulate in their home country, normally between November and early February, and the embassy publishes the governing deadline; Nankai recommends applicants first obtain a pre-admission letter from the university.

Physical examination

Application requirements for CSC applicants: a CSC application form in Chinese or English, passport photo page valid beyond September 2026, notarised highest degree certificate, transcripts from the bachelor's stage onward, language proficiency evidence (HSK for Chinese-taught programmes, IELTS or TOEFL for English-taught), a pre-admission letter, a study plan of at least 1,000 characters (signed by a Chinese supervisor for doctoral applicants), two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors, the Foreigner Physical Examination Form valid six months, and a non-criminal record certificate normally issued within the previous six months.

Language requirement

Graduate entry requirements: a master's applicant must hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent and be no more than 35 years old; Chinese-taught programmes require HSK Level 5 with 210 points; English-taught programmes require IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 80 or Duolingo 105, with waivers available for native English speakers and for applicants whose previous degree was taught entirely in English.

Language requirement

Bachelor's entry requirements: a non-Chinese citizen at least 18 years old (born before 1 September 2008), holding a high school diploma or above, with HSK Level 4 at 180 points or above for Chinese-taught programmes, and all applicants for a bachelor's degree must sit the China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA) run by the China Scholarship Council; those under 18 on 1 September of entry year must file a notarised guardian authorisation with a Tianjin-registered guardian.

Application fee

Self-funded admitted students must pay the application fee and full tuition within the period set by the university; those who fail to do so lose their admission place, and the fee is not refunded if they withdraw.

Scholarship

CSC recipients at Nankai may not simultaneously hold other scholarships established by Chinese governments at any level or by the admitting institution; if discovered, the CSC scholarship is cancelled and the amount received must be repaid. CSC recipients also may not change institution, major or study duration after arrival.

Medical insurance

All international students in China must hold comprehensive medical insurance, at CNY 800 per person per year, bought by self-funded students before registration through the designated insurance site.

Programmes

Nankai is a comprehensive university offering 41 bachelor's majors (all Chinese-taught), 171 master's majors of which 9 are English-taught, and doctoral programmes; the bachelor's degree runs four years (five for medicine) under a 1+3 residential college model in which the first year is general study at the School of International Education.
