- 2026 intake application windows

SGS-B partial scholarship (deadline 15 April) waives tuition and the insurance premium. Applicants apply to Donghua University itself, not to the Shanghai government.
- Chinese Government Scholarship routes
- CGS Category Type B (高水平研究生奖学金项目) is applied for through Donghua with a 31 January deadline for the first stage and 15 April for the second; CGS Category Type A is submitted to the applicant's own country's dispatching authority, and its deadline is governed by that authority's own publication.
- Entrance scholarship route
- Applicants for scholarship-supported study select 'CGS-Category Type B or SGS' in the 经费来源 (funding source) field of Donghua's online application and pay the CNY 800 application fee; self-funded applicants select '个人自费' instead.
- CSCA requirement
- Bachelor's applicants must provide a China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA) result; the timeline notice directs applicants to the CSCA official site at https://csca.cn/.
- Applicant status workflow
- The online system shows 未提交 (not submitted), 已提交 (submitted), 待审核 (awaiting review), 已退回 (returned — the applicant must correct or supplement within the stated time, or the application automatically lapses), 审核中 (under review), 已录取 (admitted) and 已淘汰 (rejected).

- Tuition notes
- Read from the 学费/年 column of the 报名费、学费、保险费 (人民币·元) tables on Donghua's bachelor's (/bfeespayment/list.htm), master's (/mfeespayment/list.htm) and doctoral (/dfeespayment/list.htm) Fees and Scholarships pages. Tuition is an annual charge. Each page notes '学费可能根据上级有关部门要求调整' — tuition may be adjusted in line with the requirements of higher authorities — and that once the semester begins the semester's tuition is not refunded regardless of whether the student enrols. English-taught programmes are priced separately and are materially higher than Chinese-taught ones at bachelor's and master's level. No non-degree Chinese-language-programme tuition figure appears in these tables.
- Medical insurance
- CNY 800 per year (保险费/年) at every degree level — bachelor's, master's and doctoral, for both Chinese-taught and English-taught programmes — listed beside the application fee and tuition in the same 报名费、学费、保险费 (人民币·元) tables. Each page states that once the semester begins the paid insurance premium is not refunded (一旦学期开始,已支付的保险费不退还).
- Entry requirements
- Language: Applications for the 2026 intake require language-test preparation: the timeline notice instructs applicants to prepare language examinations such as HSK, IELTS or TOEFL (语言类考试(HSK,雅思,托福)). Applicants for bachelor's programmes must provide a China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA) result — '申请本科必须提供本科学业测试(CSCA)成绩'. No single minimum HSK band or IELTS/TOEFL score is stated on the pages read.
