Scholarships offered
Two scholarship programmes: the Hainan Provincial Government Scholarship for International Students (海南省政府国际学生奖学金) and the ASEAN Scholarship (东盟奖学金). Funding duration for undergraduates is 4–6 years, corresponding to the length of the academic programme; for master's students it is 3 years. The scholarship covers tuition fees, accommodation fees and medical insurance premiums; all other expenses shall be borne by the students themselves.
Scholarship eligibility conditions
Applicants must be qualified to apply for the university's degree-seeking international student programmes and must not be recipients of the Chinese Government Scholarship or any other types of scholarships.
Scholarship annual review
Scholarship recipients must participate in the annual scholarship review after enrolment. Those who fail the review shall have their scholarship eligibility suspended or revoked.
Scholarship amount and quota
The 2026 degree prospectus states scholarship coverage of tuition, accommodation and medical insurance but supplies no monetary stipend or exact quota. An earlier review recorded 名额若干 in a separate scholarship notice; that earlier wording does not establish a freshly verified quota for a later cycle.
2026 intake deadlines
20 May 2026 — deadline for applications for Hainan Government Scholarships for international students; 15 July 2026 — deadline for self-funded student applications; 15 September 2026 — deadline for registration.
Intake status as at 24 September 2026
The three explicit 2026 deadlines (May 20 scholarship, July 15 self-funded and September 15 registration) had passed by September 24, 2026. The official incoming-prospectus index reviewed then, and again in this bounded review, lists the January 27, 2026 prospectus. A 2027 incoming degree notice was not recovered from these reviewed sources; this does not establish universal non-publication. The 2027 intake dates and acceptance remain unconfirmed.
Institutional figures stated in the brochure
The January 27, 2026 international prospectus reports the following institution figures and ESI standings; they are attributed to that notice and are not freshly dated ranking results: 15,340 full-time students, including 12,207 undergraduates (of whom 633 are international students) and 1,760 master's and doctoral students. 36 undergraduate programmes across medicine, science, management and engineering. Three directly affiliated tertiary A general hospitals with a total of 7,020 open beds, plus 10 non-directly affiliated hospitals, 12 teaching hospitals and 2 jointly built disease control centres. 15 national key clinical specialties and 7 provincial key disciplines. Clinical Medicine ranks among the top 5‰ in the ESI discipline rankings; Pharmacology & Toxicology ranks among the top 1%. Three campuses covering 1,416.71 mu.
Graduation certificate naming caution
The major name printed on the university's graduation and degree certificates is "clinical medicine". Applicants for the 1+5-year and 5-year Clinical Medicine programmes are advised to verify with the competent authorities in their home country in advance whether they can obtain corresponding professional practice qualifications after graduation.
Application portal

2026 scholarship scope
The 2026 brochure names Hainan Provincial Government International Student Scholarship and ASEAN Scholarship. It states degree-route support lasts 4–6 years for undergraduate study and 3 years for master’s study, covering tuition, accommodation and medical insurance; other costs are self-funded. Award amount and exact quota are unpublished. The listed international degree route is Chinese-medium Clinical Medicine only.
CSC status
The 2026 prospectus names provincial and ASEAN awards but does not establish a CSC Type B route or agency number. Current CSC participation is unverified.

Published dates and unconfirmed windows

Application timing and source scope

2026 intake (5-year Clinical Medicine and 1+5 route): 20 May 2026 was the deadline for applications for Hainan Provincial Government international student scholarships; 15 July 2026 was the deadline for self-funded applicants; 15 September 2026 was the deadline for registration. All three dated deadlines have passed as of 24 September 2026, and the 2026 intake is closed. Beyond these dated deadlines the brochure states only a general recurring pattern — applications are generally accepted from February to the end of July each year, applicants are advised to complete their application no later than mid-July, and scholarship applicants must finish before 20 May — but that pattern is stated for the 2026 brochure and is not a commitment for any later year. A 2027 incoming brochure was not recovered in the reviewed official prospectus/index sources: the 招生管理 > 招生简章 listing page carried the 2026 brochure (published 2026-01-27) as its most recent entry when checked on 24 September 2026, and the 通知公告 notices page carried nothing newer than 2026-06-04. The 2027 intake status and its deadlines are therefore unknown; a future window alone is not evidence that applications are open. The 2026 prospectus lists Clinical Medicine as Chinese-medium, five years, with a 1+5 route; it does not list other international degree majors. The named Hainan provincial and ASEAN awards cover tuition, accommodation and medical insurance under the 2026 brochure, but the award amount and exact quota are unpublished. The brochure directs applicants to https://ism.muhn.edu.cn/stu/ or permits downloading the form and emailing it to hnmu_enquire@muhn.edu.cn. The brochure does not establish a current CSC route or agency number.

Guide scope reviewed 3 October 2026. Dates apply only to the intake and route named in each notice.

Expert eligibility review and admission assessment lead to a proposed offer; confirming study intention leads to admission/JW202. The non-refundable fee is CNY 400; check documents before payment, whose stage is unspecified. The explicit 2026 deadlines are May 20 for provincial scholarship applications, July 15 for self-funded applications and September 15 for registration; these override the introductory general end-July wording. 3. 3

    Complete the university application

Use the official application link and complete the fields required for your route. Submit documents only through the channel and at the stage stated in the current notice. Pay a charge only when instructed; retain any submission confirmation the system provides.

  4. 4

Document checklist and upload instructions

Use the document list for your exact program. Prepare these common items, then add any scholarship-specific forms:

  • Identity: passport information page and photograph. Copy your name, birth date and passport number exactly into each application.
  • Education: diploma or official expected-graduation certificate, transcripts and any required degree authentication. Include the original language and certified translations where requested.
  • Language: the required HSK, IELTS, TOEFL or accepted alternative. A medium-of-instruction letter replaces a test only if the program allows it.
  • Academic materials: study plan or research proposal; graduate recommendation letters; supervisor or pre-admission letter when required. Some systems send referees a private submission link.
  • Additional requirements: CSCA results for applicable undergraduate routes; portfolio for relevant arts programs; medical form, police clearance, financial guarantee or guardian documents when listed. Check validity periods before arranging time-sensitive documents.

Scan each complete document clearly. Use the file type and size limit shown beside its upload field; combine multi-page documents only where the system permits. Open every uploaded file to check legibility, page order, signatures and stamps. Keep a copy of everything you submit.

  2. Choose the correct entry year, degree, teaching language and program. Read its requirements before selecting your funding option.
  3. Enter personal information as it appears in your passport. List education and employment dates accurately, and enter a reliable email address.
  4. Complete the study plan and referee fields. Upload each document to its matching slot; enter a CSC application number only if your route asks for one.
  5. Preview the whole application. Follow the fee instructions, submit the form and check that the system acknowledges submission. Saving a draft does not submit it.
