CSC agency number
Shanghai Jiao Tong University's agency number is 10248. The university states: 'When applying on the CSC website, please make sure to choose Scholarship Type B, as well as fill in SJTU's agency number "10248" and upload the pre-admission notice of SJTU'.
CSC application channels
Incoming international graduate students have two channels for the Chinese Government Scholarship: through SJTU as Type B, or through the Chinese Embassy or Consulate in their home country as Type A. Applicants may choose only one channel, because submitting duplicate applications through multiple channels is not permitted.
CSC embassy-channel timing
For applications made through Chinese embassies or consulates, the university states the schedule varies by country and is 'usually from November to April', and directs applicants to consult the embassy or consulate for its own schedule, agency number and programme categories.
CSC accommodation policy
SJTU does not provide free dormitories. Chinese Government Scholarship recipients instead receive an accommodation subsidy: CNY 1,100 per month for undergraduate students, CNY 1,320 per month for general scholars and CNY 1,650 per month for senior scholars.
Shanghai Government Scholarship integration
The Shanghai Government Scholarship has been integrated into the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Scholarship. International undergraduate and graduate students intending to apply for it do not submit a separate application; the scholarship application has been combined with the programme application and applicants select 'Apply for scholarships through SJTU' in the scholarship section of the application at apply.sjtu.edu.cn.
SJTU Scholarship classes for Chinese-taught undergraduates

SJTU scholarships are available for international doctoral programmes and include a monthly stipend, tuition waiver, group comprehensive insurance in China and an accommodation subsidy covering partial accommodation expenses. The International Master's programme offers a Master's SJTU Scholarship (monthly stipend, standard tuition waiver, group comprehensive insurance and accommodation subsidy) and a Tuition Waiver Scholarship (standard tuition waiver and group comprehensive insurance). Some schools additionally offer school or college scholarships, described in the respective school or college prospectus.
International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship programmes
SJTU hosts the award for a Bachelor's Degree in Chinese (International Chinese Language Education) and a Master's Degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (MTCSOL), plus non-degree One-Academic-Year and One-Semester study programmes. The bachelor's route requires a senior high school diploma, HSK Level 5 at 200 and HSKK Intermediate at 60, and also requires pre-admission to SJTU. The MTCSOL requires a bachelor's degree, HSK Level 6 at 180 and HSKK Advanced at 60, with priority for applicants holding a teaching-institution work contract. The one-year programme requires HSK Level 3 at 210 with priority for HSKK holders; the one-semester programme requires HSK Level 3 at 180 and an HSKK score.
Outreach scholarship
SJTU publishes the Asian Future Leaders Scholarship Program (AFLSP) under its Outreach Scholarship heading. AFLSP gives students opportunities to study abroad at leading universities in Greater China, Japan and Korea, and the programme was inspired by the achievements of Rhodes Scholars and the Schwarzman Scholars programme.
China Link Scholarship Program
SJTU notes that the China Scholarship Council has established the China Link Scholarship Program for international students hoping to engage in academic and research activities in China, and that accommodation is provided as a subsidy of CNY 1,320 per month for general scholars and CNY 1,650 per month for senior scholars rather than as a free dormitory.

Excellence Scholarship programme
SJTU runs the Chinese Government Excellence Scholarship programme (中国政府来华留学卓越奖学金项目), administered by the China Scholarship Council. At SJTU it covers three English-taught master's routes: the full-English Master of Business Administration in International Business at Antai College of Economics and Management, the Chinese Law LLM at KoGuan Law School, and the Chinese Politics and Economy master's at the School of International and Public Affairs.
Bai Xian Asia Institute scholarship
SJTU publishes the Bai Xian Asia Institute Asian Future Leaders Scholarship (百贤亚洲未来领袖奖学金) as a separate award on the scholarship pages of its International Student Center.
Undergraduate scholarship application mechanism

English- and French-taught undergraduate applicants are considered for scholarships after completing the application procedure on the Common Application system.

Published dates and unconfirmed windows

Application timing and source scope

Shanghai Jiao Tong University publishes 2027 Engineering Cluster undergraduate deadlines and a separate 2026–2027 semester-exchange factsheet. The latter includes Spring 2027 exchange and an explicit November 20, 2026 CSC-system cutoff for Spring 2027 ChinaLink. Exchange requires home-university nomination, and ChinaLink requires overseas partner-institution eligibility; these are separate from graduate CSC Type B. The factsheet gives October 30 as its spring exchange cutoff without printing a year beside that rule. Exact opening dates are unstated. The English-taught undergraduate Engineering Cluster at the Global College publishes 2027 admission deadlines of 1 November 2026 Beijing time for Early Action and 31 March 2027 Beijing time for Regular Application, with decisions released in or before January 2027 and July 2027 respectively and entry in early September 2027; the pages state deadlines only and publish no opening date, so applications are not asserted to be open. Applications run through the Common App first and then the university's own portal. The 2027 Chinese-taught undergraduate and 2027 graduate windows are not published. The most recent published windows are the 2026 cycle: Chinese-taught undergraduate applications ran from 8 December 2025 to 5 February 2026 and from 6 February 2026 to 10 March 2026; graduate applications opened on 15 October 2025 with the Chinese Government Scholarship closing on 15 December 2025 and 15 February 2026, Shanghai Government and university scholarships closing on 31 March 2026, and self-funded applications closing on 31 May 2026. All of those have closed. The 2026 Chinese-taught undergraduate and graduate notices publish a CNY 800 application fee; the separately published 2027 English-taught Engineering Cluster charges USD 75. These route-specific figures should not be generalized to other programmes or cycles. Medical insurance is CNY 800 per year or CNY 400 per half year under the cited notices and is a mandatory registration document. The university's CSC institution code for Type B is 10248, printed in its own 2026 graduate guide; the code 1563 printed on the Excellence Scholarship page applies to that Type A programme only and is not the university's institution code. The English-taught Engineering Cluster tuition is CNY 120,000 per year for the 2026 intake and CNY 150,000 per year for the 2027 intake, as stated on their respective year-labelled pages. The cited degree-scholarship terms state that SJTU does not provide a free dormitory and instead provides a CNY 1,100 per month accommodation subsidy; verify the offer-specific terms for any new Type B call. The cited 2026 degree-scholarship terms state that SJTU does not provide a free dormitory and instead provides a CNY 1,100 per month accommodation subsidy. Confirm offer-specific terms for any later Type B call.

Document checklist and upload instructions

Use the document list for your exact program. Prepare these common items, then add any scholarship-specific forms:

  • Identity: passport information page and photograph. Copy your name, birth date and passport number exactly into each application.
  • Education: diploma or official expected-graduation certificate, transcripts and any required degree authentication. Include the original language and certified translations where requested.
  • Language: the required HSK, IELTS, TOEFL or accepted alternative. A medium-of-instruction letter replaces a test only if the program allows it.
  • Academic materials: study plan or research proposal; graduate recommendation letters; supervisor or pre-admission letter when required. Some systems send referees a private submission link.
  • Additional requirements: CSCA results for applicable undergraduate routes; portfolio for relevant arts programs; medical form, police clearance, financial guarantee or guardian documents when listed. Check validity periods before arranging time-sensitive documents.

Scan each complete document clearly. Use the file type and size limit shown beside its upload field; combine multi-page documents only where the system permits. Open every uploaded file to check legibility, page order, signatures and stamps. Keep a copy of everything you submit.

Application templates
How to fill the university application

Follow the submission method in your programme's notice. The steps below apply when it requires an online form; email and paper applications follow their separate source-linked instructions above.

  1. Open the university link for your degree level. On an admissions website, find the international-student application entry, then register or sign in. Button names vary between systems.
  2. Choose the correct entry year, degree, teaching language and program. Read its requirements before selecting your funding option.
  3. Enter personal information as it appears in your passport. List education and employment dates accurately, and enter a reliable email address.
  4. Complete the study plan and referee fields. Upload each document to its matching slot; enter a CSC application number only if your route asks for one.
  5. Preview the whole application. Follow the fee instructions, submit the form and check that the system acknowledges submission. Saving a draft does not submit it.
How to fill the CSC application
  1. Open the CSC portal below and register or sign in. Complete your personal details before starting the scholarship application.
  2. Select the application category specified in the current scholarship call. Type A commonly uses a dispatching authority and Type B a university; confirm the exact category and agency number in that route's current notice and check the receiving institution displayed by the system.
  3. Select the degree category, teaching language, major and study period specified by the eligible program. Keep these consistent with your university application.
  4. Upload the requested documents, review all fields and submit. Download the completed application form; sign and upload it to the university or dispatching-authority system when instructed.
  5. Save your application number and a copy of the submitted form. If you withdraw to edit, submit again before the deadline and tell the receiving office if it already began reviewing your application.

University agency number on record: 10248. For Type B, match it to Shanghai Jiao Tong University in CSC. Type A uses your dispatching authority's number instead.
