Application timing and source scope

Shanghai Ocean University publishes intake-scoped windows through the International Exchange Office site ieo.shou.edu.cn. For the 2026 intake: the 2026 CSC 'High-level Postgraduate' Program Application Guide (published 26 November 2025) states the scholarship application deadline as February 1st, 2026, for master's and doctoral applicants, requiring both the CSC form (campuschina.org, Type B, SHOU Agency code 10264) and the SHOU application at www.gjxssqxt.cn; the 2026 SGS – Shanghai Government Scholarship Program guide gives three separate dated 2026 windows — 1+4 Bachelor Chinese Language Preparatory Program Scholarship 1 October 2025 to 30 April 2026, Bachelor degree program 1 October 2025 to 30 May 2026, and Graduate program 1 October 2025 to 1 February 2026; the 2026年上海海洋大学国际学生本科生项目招生简章 (published 11 November 2025) gives the self-funded undergraduate application deadline as 2026年5月30日 (30 May 2026) and advises CSCA test sittings in December 2025, January 2026, March 2026 and April 2026 with the score uploaded by 30 May 2026. The Application Guide page additionally states that the master's/doctoral scholarship application deadline falls on February 1st 23:59 China Time each year. All of these 2026 windows had closed as of 14 September 2026. The official 2027 Degree Programs Prospectus, published 21 September 2026, states a 1 February 2027 master’s/doctoral scholarship cutoff and 30 May 2027 undergraduate/preparatory scholarship and self-funded cutoffs. The general prospectus does not state an exact opening day. The separate 2027 Shanghai Government Scholarship guide, published 22 September 2026 and checked 3 October 2026, gives an opening date of 1 October 2026: its 1+4 bachelor Chinese-language preparatory scholarship closes 30 April 2027, bachelor scholarship 30 May 2027, and graduate scholarship 1 February 2027. These are SGS-specific windows; the preparatory SGS cutoff is earlier than the general prospectus cutoff, and these dates do not establish other awards’ opening days. Master’s/doctoral applicants must secure a willing supervisor before applying. The university system is gjxssqxt.cn; CSC applicants also use the CSC portal with agency 10264. These 2027 routes have future deadlines as of 2 October 2026.

Read the university's procedure
  1. 1

    Choose your program and intake

Check Shanghai Ocean University's current prospectus for your degree, teaching language, eligibility and deadline. Arrange supervisor contact or pre-admission first when the program requires it.

    Read official admission instructions
  2. 2

    Prepare your documents

Use the checklist below, then compare it with your program's required documents. Prepare any signed forms, translations and referee submissions before starting the final application.

  3. 3

Follow the portal order in the Type B notice

If it asks for the CSC form in the university system, finish CSC first and upload that form. If it asks for university admission or recommendation first, complete that stage before CSC. Where both systems are required, submit to both; use a CSC-only process only when the official notice explicitly specifies it.

    Read official admission instructions
  4. 4

    Complete the required application systems

Use the university and CSC instructions below in the order specified by your program. Keep names, degree, major and teaching language consistent across the forms. Check submission status in every required system.

  5. 5

Track decisions and respond to requests

Check your portal and email for missing-document requests, interviews and results. If a form is returned, correct it and resubmit. Keep admission and scholarship decisions separate; follow the final offer for acceptance, registration and original-document checks.

Document checklist and upload instructions

Use the document list for your exact program. Prepare these common items, then add any scholarship-specific forms:

  • Identity: passport information page and photograph. Copy your name, birth date and passport number exactly into each application.
  • Education: diploma or official expected-graduation certificate, transcripts and any required degree authentication. Include the original language and certified translations where requested.
  • Language: the required HSK, IELTS, TOEFL or accepted alternative. A medium-of-instruction letter replaces a test only if the program allows it.
  • Academic materials: study plan or research proposal; graduate recommendation letters; supervisor or pre-admission letter when required. Some systems send referees a private submission link.
  • Additional requirements: CSCA results for applicable undergraduate routes; portfolio for relevant arts programs; medical form, police clearance, financial guarantee or guardian documents when listed. Check validity periods before arranging time-sensitive documents.

Scan each complete document clearly. Use the file type and size limit shown beside its upload field; combine multi-page documents only where the system permits. Open every uploaded file to check legibility, page order, signatures and stamps. Keep a copy of everything you submit.

Application templates
How to fill the university application

Follow the submission method in your programme's notice. The steps below apply when it requires an online form; email and paper applications follow their separate source-linked instructions above.

  1. Open the university link for your degree level. On an admissions website, find the international-student application entry, then register or sign in. Button names vary between systems.
  2. Choose the correct entry year, degree, teaching language and program. Read its requirements before selecting your funding option.
  3. Enter personal information as it appears in your passport. List education and employment dates accurately, and enter a reliable email address.
  4. Complete the study plan and referee fields. Upload each document to its matching slot; enter a CSC application number only if your route asks for one.
  5. Preview the whole application. Follow the fee instructions, submit the form and check that the system acknowledges submission. Saving a draft does not submit it.
How to fill the CSC application
  1. Open the CSC portal below and register or sign in. Complete your personal details before starting the scholarship application.
  2. Select the application category specified in the current scholarship call. Type A commonly uses a dispatching authority and Type B a university; confirm the exact category and agency number in that route's current notice and check the receiving institution displayed by the system.
  3. Select the degree category, teaching language, major and study period specified by the eligible program. Keep these consistent with your university application.
  4. Upload the requested documents, review all fields and submit. Download the completed application form; sign and upload it to the university or dispatching-authority system when instructed.
  5. Save your application number and a copy of the submitted form. If you withdraw to edit, submit again before the deadline and tell the receiving office if it already began reviewing your application.

University agency number on record: 10264. For Type B, match it to Shanghai Ocean University in CSC. Type A uses your dispatching authority's number instead.
