Application dates, fees and sources

East China Normal University (华东师范大学) publishes dated, intake-scoped windows through the Office of International Education at lxs.ecnu.edu.cn, which answered on this check; iso.ecnu.edu.cn did not resolve and ices.ecnu.edu.cn is not the international office. The dated notices read on 23 September 2026 all belong to the 2026 intake (September 2026 entry). For graduate programmes, the Chinese Government Scholarship Type B page gives a first batch closing 31 December 2025, extended in the university's own wording to 9 January 2026 because the online payment system was under maintenance from 26 December 2025 to 6 January 2026 with applicants advised to pay before 25 December 2025, and a second batch closing 1 March 2026; the Shanghai Government Scholarship ran in two batches, 15 November 2025 to 1 March 2026 and 2 March 2026 to 30 April 2026. A separate dated Chinese notice published 30 December 2025, the 2026年华东师范大学"新汉学计划"博士生项目招生简章, opened the New Sinology Programme (新汉学计划) doctoral route from publication to 28 February 2026, with an associated pre-selection camp on 12 to 14 January 2026 whose own application closed 5 January 2026. The undergraduate pages carry the Chinese Government Scholarship Type A, whose deadline is set by the Chinese embassy or consulate in the applicant's home country, the Shanghai Government Scholarship and the ECNU Excellent Freshmen Scholarship, and the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship; the existing profile records the undergraduate Shanghai and Excellent Freshmen deadline as 30 April 2026, the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship as 15 May 2026 and self-financed undergraduate applications as 1 June 2026, and the graduate self-financed route as 1 June 2026. All listed 2026 degree-intake deadlines have passed. ECNU has also published two active Spring 2027 non-degree windows, both with application deadlines on 25 December 2026 and no stated opening date: the Global China Program runs 1 March–11 June 2027 (15 weeks; classes from 8 March), and the Standard Chinese Language Program runs 1 March–18 June 2027. For the language program, complete materials are due by 20:00 Beijing time on 25 December 2026; tuition payment is due by 20:00 on 14 January 2027. These non-degree dates do not establish any 2027/2028 bachelor, master's, doctoral or CSC deadline. No 2027/2028 degree/CSC deadline was located in the current official admissions pages checked on 2 October 2026. The separate April 2027 zero-beginner Standard Chinese Language Program runs April 1–June 18, 2027. Its live official page gives a complete-material deadline of December 25, 2026 at 20:00 Beijing time and a tuition deadline of January 14, 2027 at 20:00; no application opening is stated. Indexed excerpts show different later deadlines, so applicants should confirm this programme with the university office.

Document checklist and upload instructions

Use the document list for your exact program. Prepare these common items, then add any scholarship-specific forms:

  • Identity: passport information page and photograph. Copy your name, birth date and passport number exactly into each application.
  • Education: diploma or official expected-graduation certificate, transcripts and any required degree authentication. Include the original language and certified translations where requested.
  • Language: the required HSK, IELTS, TOEFL or accepted alternative. A medium-of-instruction letter replaces a test only if the program allows it.
  • Academic materials: study plan or research proposal; graduate recommendation letters; supervisor or pre-admission letter when required. Some systems send referees a private submission link.
  • Additional requirements: CSCA results for applicable undergraduate routes; portfolio for relevant arts programs; medical form, police clearance, financial guarantee or guardian documents when listed. Check validity periods before arranging time-sensitive documents.

Scan each complete document clearly. Use the file type and size limit shown beside its upload field; combine multi-page documents only where the system permits. Open every uploaded file to check legibility, page order, signatures and stamps. Keep a copy of everything you submit.

How to fill the university application

Follow the submission method in your programme's notice. The steps below apply when it requires an online form; email and paper applications follow their separate source-linked instructions above.

  1. Open the university link for your degree level. On an admissions website, find the international-student application entry, then register or sign in. Button names vary between systems.
  2. Choose the correct entry year, degree, teaching language and program. Read its requirements before selecting your funding option.
  3. Enter personal information as it appears in your passport. List education and employment dates accurately, and enter a reliable email address.
  4. Complete the study plan and referee fields. Upload each document to its matching slot; enter a CSC application number only if your route asks for one.
  5. Preview the whole application. Follow the fee instructions, submit the form and check that the system acknowledges submission. Saving a draft does not submit it.
How to fill the CSC application
  1. Open the CSC portal below and register or sign in. Complete your personal details before starting the scholarship application.
  2. Select the application category specified in the current scholarship call. Type A commonly uses a dispatching authority and Type B a university; confirm the exact category and agency number in that route's current notice and check the receiving institution displayed by the system.
  3. Select the degree category, teaching language, major and study period specified by the eligible program. Keep these consistent with your university application.
  4. Upload the requested documents, review all fields and submit. Download the completed application form; sign and upload it to the university or dispatching-authority system when instructed.
  5. Save your application number and a copy of the submitted form. If you withdraw to edit, submit again before the deadline and tell the receiving office if it already began reviewing your application.

University agency number on record: 10269. For Type B, match it to East China Normal University in CSC. Type A uses your dispatching authority's number instead.

East China Normal University CSC scholarship FAQ

How competitive is CSC admission at ECNU?

ECNU does not publish matched application and award totals for a university-specific CSC acceptance rate. Compare your record with the current education, psychology, environmental, or other program requirements and meet the exact round deadline.

Are there English-taught programs, and what about Chinese?

Yes. ECNU offers several English-medium master's and doctoral programs, notably in education, economics, environmental science, and international relations. Many other programs are taught in Chinese and may require an HSK certificate. Check each program's listed language of instruction and any language test requirement in the latest catalog, since this varies widely across departments and changes from year to year.

Should I contact a supervisor before applying?

For a research master's or doctoral program, follow the current ECNU school notice. If it requests or accepts supervisor contact, email a relevant professor with the materials specified and distinguish an informal reply from any formal pre-admission document.

Does East China Normal University accept CSC Type B applications?

East China Normal University appears in our directory based on prior CSC host or program evidence. For 2027-2028 Type B participation, consult the university's current international-admissions notice and confirm the application channel and Agency Number before applying.

Is the CSC scholarship at East China Normal University fully funded?

A full Chinese Government Scholarship normally covers tuition, accommodation or a housing subsidy, medical insurance, and a monthly stipend. That does not prove East China Normal University will offer a full Type B award in 2027-2028: some routes are partial or unavailable, so confirm the current notice and your final award letter.

What is the application deadline for East China Normal University?

The latest official information checked October 2, 2026 says: East China Normal University (华东师范大学) publishes dated, intake-scoped windows through the Office of International Education at lxs.ecnu.edu.cn, which answered on this check; iso.ecnu.edu.cn did not resolve and ices.ecnu.edu.cn is not the international office. Check the current notice for your degree, route, and intake before applying.
