For bachelor's applicants, the standard study period can include Chinese-language preparation followed by the normal degree duration (official Bilateral Program guide).

Availability still depends on the route offered to your country. The 2026/27 Chinese Embassy notice for Indonesia, for example, included undergraduate study within a 20-place allocation covering bachelor's, master's and doctoral applicants in named fields (official Indonesia notice). That allocation does not establish the subjects, places or deadline for another country.

Start with the dispatching authority named for your country. Central South University's Bilateral Program page states that the Type A route supports undergraduates and that applications go through the home-country dispatching authority (CSU Bilateral Program page). Zhejiang University's 2026 undergraduate guide likewise lists its Chinese Government Scholarship opportunity as Type A and directs applicants to their dispatching authority (ZJU 2026 undergraduate guide).

Do not assume every university Type B notice accepts bachelor's applicants. Pakistan's HEC distinguishes its Type A nomination route from direct Type B or other Chinese Government Scholarship applications, which applicants manage themselves (HEC 2026/27 page). A direct route is usable only when the current university or program notice expressly includes your degree level.

The general Bilateral Program baseline is a non-Chinese citizen in good health who holds a high school diploma or equivalent, has a strong academic record and is generally under 25. The receiving university may add academic, nationality, language or program conditions (official Bilateral Program guide).

Your country can add a separate nomination process. For 2026/27, Pakistan's HEC was the Type A nominating authority and published 35 bachelor's places within its allocation, while Indonesia used its embassy route and named eligible fields. The official 2026 and 2027 CSCA guidance says applicants must take the assessment and include a valid score report. Mathematics is required for all programs. Chinese-taught applicants also take the relevant Professional Chinese paper, while English-taught applicants are exempt from Professional Chinese. Physics and Chemistry requirements depend on the university and major (official CSCA FAQ).

University pages confirm that the score is part of admission review, but the subject combination is local. Zhejiang University directs applicants to its program catalog, and Dalian University of Technology publishes its own subject list for 2026 bachelor's programs (ZJU guide, DUT 2026 guide). Check the CSCA exam guide, then confirm the current subjects with each target before booking.

Do not assume that an English-taught bachelor's program is eligible for CSC funding. Central South University describes its Bilateral Program undergraduate degrees as Chinese-taught and says language preparation is generally one or two years. Zhejiang University's 2026 undergraduate guide says its Type A scholarship is open only to Chinese-taught programs (CSU Bilateral Program page, ZJU guide).

Requirements can differ by route. Pakistan's current program page says its undergraduate track includes a preparatory year unless the applicant holds the stated valid HSK certificate (HEC program details). A university may offer English-taught bachelor's admission without offering that program under your CSC route, so verify both the program catalog and the scholarship notice.

Use the checklist issued for your route. Indonesia's 2026/27 notice required the CSC form, passport, notarized high school evidence or official student-status proof for prospective graduates, transcripts, language evidence, a CSCA report, pre-admission material, a study plan of at least 200 words, the physical examination form and a recent non-criminal-record certificate (official Indonesia notice).

Do not turn that into a universal list. The Indonesia notice required two professor or associate-professor recommendations for graduate and senior-scholar applicants, not for undergraduates. Zhejiang University's separate 2026 admission process asks undergraduate applicants for two letters from high school teachers in principle (ZJU guide). Coverage depends on the award. Central South University's Bilateral Program page says a full scholarship covers tuition, accommodation, comprehensive medical insurance and an undergraduate living allowance of CNY 2,500 per month. The same page also says Bilateral Program awards may be full or partial (CSU coverage).

International travel is not safe to assume. Indonesia's 2026/27 notice described its allocation as a full scholarship but expressly excluded international travel expenses. Read the final award and host-university instructions before budgeting, and treat any item not listed there as unconfirmed.

First, find the current dispatching-authority or embassy notice for your nationality and confirm that it includes bachelor's study. Next, verify the eligible university, major, teaching language and CSCA subjects. Obtain any pre-admission material required by the route, complete the country portal when one exists, and submit CGSIS with the correct program category and agency number before the earliest deadline.
