Zhejiang Government Scholarship: 2026 Guide

The Zhejiang Government Scholarship is provincial funding for international students, but applicants deal with their target university rather than a single student-facing provincial application portal. The current Zhejiang University guide is specifically for new international postgraduate students, while Zhejiang University of Science and Technology's 2026 notice describes Type A for master's applicants and Type B for undergraduate applicants. Start with the current scholarship and admission notice for the university and program you want.

Coverage must be read from the controlling university notice. ZUST's 2026 notice states RMB 30,000 for its Type A and RMB 20,000 for its Type B, each for one academic year. Zhejiang University's 2026 postgraduate guide states RMB 30,000 for one year. An official Zhejiang Normal University scholarship page explicitly says its published Class A and B amounts do not include a monthly stipend. Do not assume that tuition, accommodation, insurance, or a living allowance is included unless the target university's written notice says so.

Eligibility differs by institution and study level. At ZUST in 2026, Type A applicants must be under 35 and Type B applicants under 30, meet the program's admission requirements, and receive pre-admission. Zhejiang University's postgraduate guide requires applicants to meet its master's or doctoral admission requirements, have good academic performance, and not hold another scholarship at the same time. Check the target university's current degree-level notice for its own education, age, language, and funding-compatibility conditions.

There is no single student deadline that applies across Zhejiang. ZUST lists January 18 to May 30, 2026 for its provincial scholarship application. Zhejiang University lists February 28, 2026 for its Zhejiang Government Scholarship for master's applicants, with Beijing time applying to the listed dates in its 2026 master's guide. For current enrolled students, Zhejiang University's separate 2025 selection notice used a different annual selection process and excluded first-year students. Use only the date attached to your degree, university, and intake.

Apply through the university's official international-student system. ZUST requires applicants to complete the online admission application, receive pre-admission, then submit scholarship-review materials in the same system. Zhejiang University requires its online application, the scholarship form, and a non-criminal-record certificate issued within six months before submission. ZJU says academic schools may arrange a video interview after preliminary review, and the recommendation considers research ability, academic performance, language proficiency, and interview performance. A university review or pre-admission is not a guarantee of an award.

Choose the degree and university first, then compare the current award notice with that university's admission guide. Confirm the award amount and duration, whether it is for a new applicant or a continuing student, admission and pre-admission requirements, documents, deadline, and whether other funding can be held at the same time.
