Hubei Government Scholarship: 2026 Guide

Hubei universities publish different scholarship terms and application routes. Compare current host evidence, older cycle-specific amounts, and next steps.
1.Is the Hubei Government Scholarship open now?
No current source checked on September 12, 2026 publishes a province-wide Hubei scholarship window that applicants can safely treat as open. China Three Gorges University's latest dedicated guide on its official scholarship list is for 2025/26 and gave June 30, 2025 as its deadline. The university's April 2026 prospectus still includes Hubei Government Scholarship entries for selected programs, but the prospectus page does not announce a new province-wide deadline (CTGU 2026 prospectus; CTGU 2025/26 scholarship guide).
Other 2026 admission windows have also closed. Hubei University of Chinese Medicine accepted undergraduate applications from April 1 to June 1, while Hubei Institute of Fine Arts accepted degree applications from January 31 to June 30 (HBUCM 2026 admissions; HIFA 2026 admissions). Those are university admission dates, not a universal scholarship calendar. Check the chosen university for a new scholarship notice before applying or paying any fee.
2.Is the Hubei scholarship the same as CSC?
No. The Hubei Provincial Scholarship for International Students is funded through the provincial scheme and handled by participating universities. CTGU's dedicated guide says the Hubei Provincial Government established the award for international students studying in the province (CTGU scholarship introduction).
The Chinese Government Scholarship is administered through the China Scholarship Council and follows separate Type A, Type B, or designated-program instructions. CTGU's current 2026 program sheet lists Hubei Government Scholarship support separately and excludes CSC and the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship from that description (CTGU 2026 master's program sheet). Do not combine the portals, deadlines, benefit tables, or decision chains. Use the two-portal application guide when a university requires more than one system.
3.Who can apply for the Hubei scholarship?
Eligibility is controlled by the host and cycle. CTGU's 2025/26 guide limited bachelor's applicants to ages 18 to 25, master's applicants to 18 to 30, doctoral applicants to 18 to 35, and general visiting students to 18 to 40. It also required HSK 4 for most Chinese-taught programs and IELTS 5.0 or equivalent evidence for English-taught programs, with stated exceptions (CTGU 2025/26 eligibility). Those rules belong to that CTGU cycle.
Current 2026 university pages show why the limits cannot be copied province-wide. HBUCM's undergraduate guide uses an under-35 age rule and requires CSCA results, while HIFA generally limits undergraduate applicants to ages 18 to 30 and applies separate academic and portfolio requirements (HBUCM eligibility; HIFA eligibility). Confirm nationality, age, degree level, program, language evidence, CSCA or portfolio requirements, academic record, health and conduct documents, and any restriction on other funding. 4.What does the Hubei scholarship cover?
Do not assume that every Hubei award is fully funded. CTGU's 2025/26 guide described its Hubei award as tuition support only: RMB 10,000 per year for bachelor's students, RMB 15,000 for master's students, RMB 20,000 for doctoral students, and RMB 5,000 per semester or RMB 10,000 per academic year for general visiting students (CTGU 2025/26 coverage). These are CTGU amounts from that cycle, not a current province-wide benefit table.
CTGU's current 2026 master's program sheet gives another important limit. For listed programs, the scholarship covers first-year tuition, while later full or half tuition support depends on the university's scholarship assessment. The sheet does not promise a universal living stipend, accommodation, insurance, or airfare (CTGU 2026 program sheet). Confirm the exact fee offset, renewal standard, and remaining costs in the current host notice and final award letter.
5.How do you apply through a Hubei university?
Follow one university's current instructions from start to finish. CTGU's 2025/26 route used its international-student application system. The admissions office performed a preliminary review, the relevant college conducted an academic review, and qualifying files went to the Hubei Provincial Department of Education for further review and system processing (CTGU application process).
Other hosts may publish only a regular admission method and list the scholarship separately. HBUCM's 2026 undergraduate page directs applicants to its online system. HIFA's 2026 guide used an email application process and listed the provincial scholarship without a full scholarship procedure on that page (HBUCM application method; HIFA application method). In that situation, ask the international admissions office for the current scholarship notice, form, eligible programs, and deadline. Do not infer that admission automatically creates a scholarship application.
6.Which universities show current Hubei scholarship activity?
Official pages checked in September 2026 confirm the award or related activity at several universities. CTGU's current prospectus and program sheet include Hubei Government Scholarship support for selected programs. HBUCM's 2026 undergraduate page lists the Hubei Provincial International Student Scholarship, and HIFA's 2026 guide lists the provincial international-student scholarship (CTGU; HBUCM; HIFA).
Wuhan Textile University's current notice index also records a December 16, 2025 Hubei Provincial International Student Scholarship selection notice (WTU notice index). That listing does not prove a new-applicant route or an open 2026 window. These examples are not a complete host list, and a university address in Hubei does not establish current scholarship participation.
7.How should I prepare for the next cycle?
Build a shortlist of Hubei universities and monitor each official international admissions and scholarship page. Record whether the award is for new or current students, the eligible degrees and programs, age and language rules, CSCA or other assessment requirements, coverage, renewal conditions, application system, documents, deadline, review chain, and result channel. Do not reuse the CTGU 2025 deadline or its amounts as predicted terms for another host or cycle.
Prepare durable records such as your passport and academic documents, but wait for the new notice before ordering time-limited records or paying for translations and authentication.
