Putian University: Scholarships for International Students

Estimated monthly living costs for food, transport, phone service and personal items; accommodation is separate unless the student's award letter says otherwise.

The 2026 brochure lists a 报名注册费 (registration and enrolment fee) of RMB 400, payable at the time of application ('报名时交纳'). The brochure does not state whether this fee is refundable. It is separate from tuition, which the brochure says is paid after arrival at the university ('学费及住宿费等相关费用到校后支付'). The university's own self-established scholarship is described as covering this same 400 Yuan registration fee in its top (full-scholarship) tier.

University application fees typically range CNY 400-800; a few universities charge none, and a few waive it for CSC awardees. The CSC portal itself is always free.

Tuition notes

The brochure states teaching language for degree students is Chinese (授课语言：中文). No separate English-taught tuition rate is published. Tuition is stated as a full-year payment made in one instalment; the brochure adds that once paid, tuition is non-refundable except in cases of force majeure ('学费一经缴纳，除不可抗力外，不予退还'), and that rates may be adjusted if policy changes. Master's and doctoral rates are not listed because the brochure only covers language students and bachelor's students.

CNY 2,600 per student per academic year (double room, 双人间); CNY 1,300 per student per academic year (four-person room, 四人间)

Medical insurance

Not a fixed university fee. Students must buy their own insurance covering accident and medical care for the full study period and present the policy at registration; those without it will not be registered. The university's own scholarship description values medical insurance at CNY 800.

Entry requirements

Language: HSK Level 4 or above (汉语水平考试（HSK）4级或以上) for bachelor's degree applicants; language students must have senior high school level education or above and no HSK is stated for the language track. A language student who reaches HSK 4 may apply to transfer into a bachelor's programme starting from year one.. Age: 18 to 26 years old (18-26周岁) at the time stated by the notice; physically healthy, holding a valid ordinary foreign passport, non-Chinese national, friendly to China, with no criminal record. Required degree: Senior high school graduation or above (高中及以上), equivalent to six years of secondary schooling, with good secondary-school grades; notarised senior high school certificate and transcript required for bachelor's applicants. Financial guarantee: A financial guarantee certificate (经济保证证明) such as a bank fixed-deposit certificate is mandatory with the application. The brochure states that, based on local living costs in Putian, one academic year costs approximately CNY 40,000 (一学年的费用大约为4万元人民币).
