CSC Scholarship at Inner Mongolia University: Application Guide

Scholarship

The Chinese Government Scholarship application is free of charge: "IMU does not charge any fees and has not authorized any domestic or foreign agencies or individuals to handle applications on its behalf," per the Important Notes of the 2026-2027 High-Level Postgraduate Program guide.

CSC agency number

Inner Mongolia University's CSC agency number is 10126 (Program Category Type B, University Code 10126). Annex 1 states "Your Agency Number is: 10126 (Inner Mongolia University)"; the short-term research notice repeats 我校受理机构编号为 10126 and warns that an incorrect number means the application cannot be received.

Programmes

The 2026-2027 CSC High-Level Postgraduate Program window closed at 24:00 Beijing time on 1 March 2026; late applications are not processed. The notice was published 5 December 2025.

Scholarship

The 2026-2027 Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region People's Government Scholarship (内蒙古自治区人民政府奖学金) postgraduate programme accepted applications from 1 June 2026 to 25 June 2026, restricted to Mongolian citizens, through https://isms.imu.edu.cn/stu/#/login.

Scholarship

Both scholarship routes are free to apply for: 内蒙古自治区人民政府奖学金高校研究生项目免费申请，我校不收取任何费用，且未委托任何境内外机构或个人代理 (the programme is free to apply for, our university charges no fees, and no domestic or foreign agency or individual has been engaged to recruit on its behalf).

Application fee

CSC scholarship coverage at IMU is a waiver of tuition and the registration fee, complimentary university dormitory accommodation, a living allowance paid to Chinese Government Scholarship standards, and comprehensive medical insurance for international students.

Application fee

The Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region People's Government Scholarship covers the same four items: 免交学费和注册费 (waiver of tuition and registration fee), free student apartment, a living allowance to the regional standard, and comprehensive medical insurance.

Application deadline

IMU dispatches admission notices, JW201 forms and related materials to admitted CSC candidates in mid-July 2026, and admitted students register within the timeframe on the admission notice; failure to register within two weeks of the stated deadline revokes admission eligibility.

Scholarship

IMU is a designated host institution of the Chinese Government Scholarship, the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region People's Government Scholarship, and describes itself as among the first batch of national demonstration bases for study in China approved by the Ministry of Education.

Verified fact

Since the 1980s the university has trained more than 5,000 international students from 65 countries and regions, and it runs language, preparatory, general and senior advanced, exchange, undergraduate, master's and doctoral categories.

Scholarship

Recipients of the Chinese Government Scholarship may not simultaneously hold funding from other scholarships established by Chinese governments at any level or by the admitting university (one-time awards excepted); concealment is punished by revocation, repayment and a three-year bar from applying.

Physical examination

CSC scholarship applicants must submit a Chinese or English application form, passport home page valid beyond September 2027, notarised highest diploma, sealed academic transcripts, HSK certificates for Chinese-taught programmes, a study plan of over 1,000 words (signed by the prospective supervisor for doctoral applicants), two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors, a Foreigner Physical Examination Form, a non-criminal record certificate, and a recent photograph.

Tuition notes

From the 学费标准 (Tuition Standards) table of the 内蒙古大学自费国际学生招生简章 published 2 June 2026 (currency unit: RMB yuan). Short-term language students are charged on a separately approved teaching plan (根据教学计划单独核定). Accommodation, from the same notice's 住宿费标准 table: single room CNY 4,000 per semester and CNY 50 per day for stays shorter than a semester; twin room CNY 2,000 per semester and CNY 25 per day for stays shorter than a semester. These are annual, per-semester and per-day charges and are never an application fee.

Accommodation

University dormitory on campus: single room CNY 4,000 per semester (CNY 50 per day for stays under one semester); twin room CNY 2,000 per semester (CNY 25 per day for stays under one semester), per the 住宿费标准 table of the 内蒙古大学自费国际学生招生简章 of 2 June 2026. Chinese Government Scholarship and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region People's Government Scholarship recipients receive complimentary university dormitory accommodation.

Entry requirements

Language: Master's and doctoral applicants for Chinese-taught programmes must hold HSK level 4 or above; applicants who previously obtained a degree from a Chinese university taught in Chinese are exempt. The Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region People's Government Scholarship requires HSK level 3 or above for Chinese-taught study. Undergraduate and master's applicants must hold HSK 4 or above for self-funded degree programmes.. Age: Master's applicants must hold a bachelor's degree and be under 35; doctoral applicants must hold a master's degree and be under 40. Self-funded degree applicants must be at least 18 years old; master's applicants no older than 55 and doctoral applicants no older than 40. Short-term research exchange applicants: general advanced students no older than 45, senior advanced students no older than 50. International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship applicants must be 16-35 years old (calculated as at 1 September 2026), relaxed to 45 for in-service Chinese language teachers.. Required degree: Master's applicants need a bachelor's degree; doctoral applicants need a master's degree. Research scholars require associate professor, professor, associate researcher or researcher rank or above at an overseas university or research institution.. Financial guarantee: Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good physical and mental health with an excellent academic record. A valid Non-criminal (Police Clearance) Record Certificate issued within the previous 6 months and a valid Foreigner Physical Examination Form (result valid 6 months) are required. Short-term research exchange applicants must be full-time students or staff of a CSC overseas partner institution.

Self-funded admission dates
