Its official fee standard page (收费标准, posted 18 December 2025) states in its own words: '1. 报名费 800元人民币/人。' (1. Application fee: RMB 800 per person), listed separately from and ahead of tuition. The identical wording appears in all five 2026 admissions guides, for example '八、收费标准 1．报名费：人民币800元/人，报名费一律不予退还。' (Section 8 Fees: 1. Application fee: RMB 800 per person; the application fee is non-refundable in all cases), and again in the 2026 freshman scholarship measures and the Guangdong provincial scholarship measures. This is expressly an application fee (报名费), not tuition: the same sections list tuition separately as 学费 in RMB per academic year, namely undergraduate clinical medicine and stomatology 36,000 Chinese-taught and 50,000 English-taught, other undergraduate programmes 30,000, master's 45,000, doctoral 50,000, visiting scholars 30,000, and preparatory students 12,000 per semester or 23,000 per year. IMPORTANT SCOPE: only holders of a full Chinese Government Scholarship are exempt, stated as '★ 中国政府全额奖学金生，免交报名费、学费、住宿费及综合医疗保险费' (full Chinese Government Scholarship students are exempt from the application fee, tuition, accommodation and comprehensive medical insurance). Self-funded applicants pay it, and the university explicitly states that winners of its own and the Guangdong awards must still pay: '南方医科大学校长奖学金获得者须按照南方医科大学来华留学生收费标准缴纳奖学金以外所需费用（包括报名费等）' and '广东省政府来粤留学生奖学金获得者须按照南方医科大学自费来华留学生收费标准缴纳所有费用（包括报名费、学费和住宿费）'. The university is therefore not free to apply to in general.
