Xinjiang Government Scholarship: 2026 Guide

The 2026 deadlines in the current official notices have passed. Xinjiang University closed its regional scholarship application on May 31, 2026. China University of Petroleum-Beijing at Karamay used June 30, while Xinjiang Agricultural University used July 15 for its broader 2026 international intake (Xinjiang University notice; Karamay campus brochure; Xinjiang Agricultural University brochure).

Those dates do not create one region-wide deadline. As of September 8, 2026, use them only to understand the completed cycle. Wait for the relevant host university's 2027 notice before applying or ordering time-limited documents.

Xinjiang University's notice describes the award as a scholarship for international students from neighboring countries. It gives priority to strong students from overseas Confucius Institutes or Chinese-language centers, students and teachers from partner schools, and high performers in Chinese-language examinations. General conditions included foreign citizenship, good health, compliance with Chinese law and university rules, and no simultaneous Chinese government scholarship (official eligibility section).

At Xinjiang University, bachelor's applicants could not be over 25 and needed at least high-school education. The limits were 35 with a bachelor's degree for master's study and 40 with a master's degree for doctoral study. The notice does not publish a universal list of eligible nationalities, so applicants should not assume that every foreign citizen qualifies. Check the current host notice and the country-eligibility guide before relying on an earlier rule.

Xinjiang University's 2026 award waived registration, tuition, and on-campus accommodation for 10 months, provided comprehensive medical insurance, and paid a 10-month living allowance. The monthly rates were CNY 1,000 for bachelor's students, CNY 1,220 for master's students, and CNY 1,500 for doctoral students (Xinjiang University funding table).

Host terms were not identical. The Karamay campus listed waived tuition, accommodation, insurance, and CNY 1,000 per month for 10 months under its Xinjiang regional or Karamay government scholarship. Preparatory students initially received 70 percent of the allowance, with the balance payable after confirmed undergraduate admission, and renewal depended on annual review (Karamay scholarship terms). Xinjiang Medical University's 2026 postgraduate brochure listed annual regional stipends of CNY 12,200 for master's students and CNY 15,000 for doctoral students (Xinjiang Medical University brochure). Use the award letter from your own host to determine the actual package.

Applicants used Xinjiang University's international student platform. Bachelor's applicants also had to take the China Scholastic Competency Assessment and submit a valid score by May 31, 2026. Master's and doctoral applicants had to find a supervisor through the university's academic units and obtain a pre-acceptance letter before applying (official application process).

The document list included notarized highest-education credentials and transcripts, a passport biodata page, a white-background ID photo, the Foreigner Physical Examination Record, a notarized no-criminal-record certificate, and language evidence. Postgraduate applicants also needed two recommendations from associate professors or professors and a study plan of at least 800 words. The medical form and criminal-record certificate were each stated to be valid for six months. Yes. Xinjiang Agricultural University's 2026 international brochure used its own admission limits, tests, scholarship classes, and deadline. It listed a July 15 application deadline, written tests and interviews, and first-, second-, and third-class awards. The first class covered the application fee, tuition, insurance, accommodation, and a 10-month allowance; the second and third classes reduced different costs (Xinjiang Agricultural University brochure).

The Karamay campus accepted preparatory and degree students under its scholarship section and required its own online application. Xinjiang University offered bachelor's, master's, and doctoral places, with program-specific teaching languages and different postgraduate requirements. These examples show why one university's deadline, age limit, major list, or funding class should not be copied into another application.

No. The regional government scholarship and the Chinese Government Scholarship are separate awards, even when the same university administers both. Xinjiang University's 2026 regional notice used the university application platform and regional stipend schedule. Its separate Chinese Government Scholarship provincial and ministerial co-construction notice required a CSC Type B application with agency number 10755 and limited that program to citizens of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan (regional notice; separate CSC notice).

Other Xinjiang-based government awards are also distinct. Tarim University's 2026 brochure offered a Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps scholarship covering tuition, accommodation, medical insurance, and living expenses (Tarim University brochure). Do not label every scholarship offered in Xinjiang as CSC or as the autonomous-region scholarship.

Choose the host and exact scholarship first. Then monitor that university's international admissions page for the new notice, eligible countries, degree levels, majors, teaching language, application system, deadline, funding class, and renewal conditions. Do not reuse a 2026 deadline or assume that a regional application also requires the CSC system.
