Quick answer

Huaqiao's official notices separate postgraduate CSC, undergraduate Silk Road, language-teacher, provincial and university scholarships. Check the route before applying.

1.Which Huaqiao University scholarship route fits my study?

Start with your degree and subject. Huaqiao University's 2026 undergraduate guide lists Chinese Government Scholarship routes, the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship, Chinese language and culture education funding, an Overseas Students Special Scholarship, and provincial and university awards. It distinguishes freshman awards from scholarships for students already enrolled, and says coverage and quotas depend on the current scholarship guide (official 2026 undergraduate guide).

For master's and doctoral study, Huaqiao published a separate CSC High-level Postgraduate Program notice (official postgraduate CSC notice). The Huaqiao University profile is a starting point for finding the institution. Use the scholarship notice for your applicant group to confirm eligibility, programs and funding; a university listing alone does not establish them.

2.Are the published Huaqiao scholarship deadlines still open?

The application windows below had closed by October 2, 2026. The 2026 postgraduate CSC notice gave university-registration windows ending December 15, 2025 and March 1, 2026 (postgraduate CSC notice). The undergraduate Silk Road route required both applications before May 15, 2026 (Silk Road notice).

The language-teacher notices set May 15 as the student deadline for September 2026 entry, separately from the May 25 institutional-review deadline (undergraduate and language-study notice; master's notice). Those notices do not establish a 2027 application window. Wait for a dated new-intake notice rather than moving last year's dates forward.

3.How did the postgraduate CSC application sequence work?

Huaqiao's 2026 High-level Postgraduate Program required applicants to seek university admission first. After material and academic review, Huaqiao ranked candidates for recommendation, issued pre-admission letters to those recommended, and instructed them to complete the CSC application using Type B and agency number 10385. CSC's expert assessment determined the final scholarship result (official postgraduate CSC notice). A pre-admission letter was not a scholarship award.

Check the language requirement carefully: the CSC notice specified HSK 4 with at least 180 points, while the general 2026 postgraduate admissions guide stated that its programs were Chinese-taught and specified HSK 5 with at least 180 points, with stated alternatives for some applicants (general postgraduate guide). Ask the university which requirement applies to your program and scholarship before relying on either threshold. The CSC agency-number guide explains how to verify the category and receiving authority.

4.Who qualified for Huaqiao's undergraduate Silk Road route?

The 2026 notice restricted this route to citizens of Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Mongolia and Angola. It listed five undergraduate majors: Civil Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering, Computer Science and Technology, and Architecture (official Silk Road notice).

The notice required a high-school qualification, an age generally not exceeding 25, and HSK 3 with at least 180 points. It also set separate HSK and CSCA conditions for direct degree entry, with a preparatory year where those conditions were not met. Funding included tuition, free dormitory accommodation, CNY 2,500 per month for living expenses and CNY 800 per person per year for comprehensive medical insurance, subject to the applicable CSC standards (2026 Silk Road notice). Applicants had to use both Huaqiao's undergraduate system and CSC's system, selecting Type B and 10385. These were Huaqiao's 2026 route rules, not eligibility rules for every Silk Road scholarship.

5.How do the Chinese language-teacher scholarships differ?

Huaqiao's undergraduate and language-study notice covered a four-year bachelor's program, up to 11 months of one-year study, and up to five months of one-semester study. The bachelor's route required HSK 5 at 180 and HSKK Intermediate at 60; one-year language study required HSK 3 at 210, with priority for an HSKK result; one-semester study required HSK 3 at 180 plus an HSKK result. The notice included tuition, accommodation, insurance and CNY 2,500 per month for living expenses (official undergraduate and language-study notice).

The separate master's notice described a three-year International Chinese Language Education degree with two years of scholarship funding, followed by a university waiver of third-year tuition and accommodation. It required a bachelor's degree, HSK 5 at 210 and HSKK Intermediate at 60, and listed CNY 3,000 per month during scholarship funding (official master's notice). Do not assume the third year includes the same living allowance.

Both routes required a recommending institution and applications through the language-teacher scholarship system and the relevant Huaqiao system. The International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship guide explains the wider route; Huaqiao's notice controls its own program requirements.

6.What did Huaqiao's provincial and university awards cover?

Huaqiao's July 2026 Fujian provincial notice was for provisionally admitted 2026 full-time international master's students. It set a July 22 deadline and described a CNY 40,000 award paid in two CNY 20,000 installments for the 2026-2027 academic year. It required a completed graduation certificate, did not accept expected-graduation proof, and excluded specified concurrent scholarships (official provincial selection notice). This was a post-admission selection procedure, not an open application deadline for future applicants.

A separate July notice described Huaqiao's postgraduate Academic Navigation Scholarship (学业领航奖学金), with three funding levels. First-level funding prioritized tuition and on-campus accommodation, with living-allowance standards of CNY 500 per month for master's students and CNY 1,800 for doctoral students. Lower levels prioritized fee reductions. The notice also set annual-review rules that could reduce or cancel later funding (official university scholarship notice). Confirm the award level, duration, covered expenses and renewal conditions in your own notice; the scholarship name alone does not mean full funding.

7.What should I check before applying for the next intake?

Find the new dated notice for your degree and scholarship, then check nationality, subject, teaching language, HSK and HSKK requirements, CSCA where applicable, age wording, required portals, document standards and each deadline. Keep the admission and scholarship steps separate. Confirm which costs remain payable and whether the award can be combined with other funding. Where Huaqiao's general and scholarship notices differ, obtain clarification from the university before submitting.
