Quick answer

Indonesians apply to the Chinese Embassy directly (no ministry nomination) and enjoy the region's easiest document legalization. Here's the verified process with real dates.

1.Route 1: direct-to-embassy Type A (agency 3602)

Indonesia's Type A is refreshingly simple: apply online at campuschina.org under agency number 3602 ("There is no need to send paper materials to the embassy") and the embassy reviews and forwards recommendations to CSC (official 2026/27 embassy notice). The 2026/27 cycle: notice published October 27, 2025; deadline February 8, 2026; embassy forwarding February 9–March 5; results checkable July–August, with winners downloading the admission notice + JW201 from the system. The bilateral envelope: "China–Indonesia Scholarship in Higher Education Program," 20 places (bachelor's/master's/PhD in marine, medical, health, tourism, education and other priority majors). It is a full scholarship, but international travel is NOT included. Embassy contact: eduindonesia@163.com. The previous cycle ran November 6 → February 23, so expect the 2027-28 notice around late October–November 2026.

2.Route 2: Type B direct to universities

Standard Type B: apply in the university's own system AND on campuschina.org with the university's agency number (e.g., Beijing Normal University = 10027, window November–March, per BNU official); the university nominates, CSC approves. Wrong agency number = "Application... will not be processed" (official CSC instructions). Running Type A + Type B in the same cycle is allowed.

3.Documents (2026/27 verified list)

Passport valid ≥12 months from expected study start; notarized highest diploma + notarized translations; transcripts; HSK4 (Chinese-taught postgrad) / HSK3 (general scholar) or IELTS/TOEFL per university; pre-admission document required for all applicants (our letters guide); study plan (200/500/800 words minimum by level); 2 recommendation letters (postgrads); physical examination form (our guide); police clearance (SKCK) issued within 6 months; CSCA score for bachelor's applicants; sittings were December 21, 2025 / January 25, 2026 (our CSCA guide). All per the official embassy notice above.

4.Indonesia's superpower: single-step apostille

Since November 7, 2023 the Apostille Convention applies between Indonesia and China: the Chinese Embassy and Consulates ceased legalization; Indonesian documents "only need to apply for Indonesian Apostille" via Kemenkumham's portal (apostille.ahu.go.id) (official embassy notice). One caveat from the same notice: an apostille doesn't guarantee the receiving Chinese institution accepts the document's format/translation, so confirm requirements with the university.

5.Visa from Jakarta

X1 applications go through the CVASC Jakarta (The East Building, Mega Kuningan), with online application live since June 30, 2025 (embassy notice); scholarship winners use the JW201 downloaded from the CSC system. Residence permit within 30 days of arrival.

6.Pitfalls + 2027-28 timeline

Pitfalls (all official-sourced): wrong agency number = application never received; missing both CSCA sittings = ineligible for bachelor's; concealing another Chinese scholarship = cancellation + 3-year ban; passports under 12 months validity must be renewed BEFORE applying; airfare is self-funded, so budget it. Timeline projection: notice ~late Oct–Nov 2026 → CSCA Dec/Jan → deadline ~early-to-late February 2027 → results July–August 2027 → September intake. Start pre-admission outreach from September 2026.

Twenty bilateral seats and a pre-admission letter requirement mean early movers win. Our $100 Professor Outreach or Full CSC Package ($700) gets the letters done; the $50 shortlisting session picks your targets.
