CSC Scholarship Tanzania: 2026/27 Route Guide

Tanzania's 2026/27 ministry route closed on January 30, 2026. Its official record shows the Type A process, document rules, and separate university options.
1.Is the Chinese Government Scholarship open in Tanzania now?
No. Tanzania's Ministry of Education, Science and Technology required the printed 2026/27 application and supporting documents to reach its Dodoma office by January 30, 2026. The ministry's current foreign-scholarship directory describes the China Scholarship Council route as a full scholarship for bachelor's, master's, and PhD study, with the normal application period running from November to February, but that directory is planning guidance rather than a new call (2026/27 ministry call; foreign-scholarship directory).
Do not submit against the expired 2026 deadline. Wait for a 2027/28 notice from the ministry and confirm the new deadline, agency number, available study levels, and delivery method. 2.What route did Tanzania use for the 2026/27 cycle?
The ministry acted as Tanzania's dispatching authority for the bilateral, or Type A, route. Applicants had to complete the Chinese Government Scholarship online application, print it, and submit it with the required supporting documents to the ministry. The notice warned that an incorrect agency number would disqualify the application, so the number in the current Tanzania call must control rather than a code copied from an old guide (Tanzania ministry instructions).
This is different from a university Type B application. Current university guidance for Type A applicants likewise says candidates first seek the scholarship opportunity through their home-country dispatching authority, obtain any required pre-admission document, complete the CSC system, and submit the documents back to that authority before its deadline (SWUFE 2026 Type A notice). Use the CSC agency-number guide to understand the routing field, then follow the new ministry notice exactly.
3.Who was eligible for Tanzania's 2026/27 call?
The 2026/27 call required citizenship of the United Republic of Tanzania, good academic performance, good health, and a valid passport or evidence that a passport application had been made. Undergraduate applicants could not be older than 25, master's applicants could not be older than 35, and doctoral applicants needed a master's degree and had to be under 40 at the time of application (Tanzania ministry call).
These were rules for one completed cycle. A future notice may change the available levels or add conditions, and a selected university can impose its own academic, language, or program requirements. Treat the next Tanzania call and the chosen university notice as the controlling documents.
4.Which documents did the ministry require?
The ministry listed the completed Chinese Government Scholarship form; certified copies of CSEE, ACSEE, diploma, bachelor's, or master's credentials as applicable; academic transcripts; and certified Chinese or English translations for records issued in another language. It also required a study plan or research proposal of at least 200 words for undergraduate applicants, 500 words for non-degree applicants, and 800 words for postgraduate applicants. Postgraduate applicants needed two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors. Master's, doctoral, general-scholar, and senior-scholar applicants also needed a university-issued admission document such as an admission notice, pre-admission letter, or professor invitation (official document list).
Do not assume that list is complete for the next cycle. Current Type A university guidance can also require language evidence, the Foreigner Physical Examination Form, a no-criminal-record document, and program-specific material, with time limits on some records (SWUFE Type A document rules). Prepare permanent records early, but wait for the new calendar before obtaining documents that can expire.
5.What did the scholarship cover?
The Tanzania ministry described its 2026/27 offer as fully funded. Current Type A university guidance describes the standard Chinese Government Scholarship package as tuition, accommodation, a living allowance, and comprehensive medical insurance (SWUFE 2026 Type A coverage). A current Beihang Type B notice lists the same four items and expressly says international travel is not included (Beihang 2026 guide).
The controlling Tanzania call and admission documents determine an individual award. Do not add airfare, visa fees, document costs, or other items unless the relevant notice states that they are covered. Applicants should budget for any expense not expressly included.
6.Could Tanzanian applicants use a university Type B route?
Yes, when a current university program includes their nationality and they meet that program's rules. Southwestern University of Finance and Economics listed Tanzania as a priority country for its 2026 Type B Silk Road Program. That closed notice covered master's and doctoral study, set a May 17, 2026 deadline, required the SWUFE application first, and asked nominated candidates to complete the CSC Type B application with SWUFE agency number 10651 (SWUFE 2026 Type B notice).
Other universities use different eligibility lists, majors, deadlines, fees, and portal sequences. Chang'an University's 2026/27 first Type B batch had no nationality limit, while its second batch restricted both nationalities and majors (Chang'an University notice). Completing only the CSC form may leave the university application unfinished. Check the two-portal application guide before applying.
7.How should I prepare for the next Tanzania cycle?
Monitor the Tanzania Ministry of Education, Science and Technology scholarship pages from November onward, but do not treat the directory's November-to-February window as a guaranteed deadline. Prepare clear scans of your passport, academic certificates, transcripts, and translations. Shortlist programs only after checking the current university notice, then record which route, portal, agency number, deadline, and document set applies.
Also separate CSC from other China-funded schemes. In June 2026, the ministry published a distinct Hunan-Africa Furong Scholarship call for Central South University, Changsha University of Science and Technology, and Hunan Agricultural University. That program had its own coverage, exclusions, language rules, documents, and June 12, 2026 deadline, so it should not be relabeled as the national CSC route or assumed to repeat (official Hunan-Africa Furong call).
